The first battle between the Indian Premier League vs the Indian Political League was won by Politics as the IPL moved to the South africa. But as the IPL now airs on TV the war better the two IPL’s continue as the air time on TV gets divided between cricket and politics.
So who is winning the war?
Data released by viewership rating companies indicates more people watched the developments in the political arena than cricket on the first two days of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
IPL weekend ratings were 3.5 while political news did better with 3.6 according to data from Audience Measurement and Analytics (aMAP) of the six metros. In 2008, 70 lakh people watched T20 matches on the first two days compared to 56 lakh this year.
So all in all cricket seems to be losing the battle with politics. There could be only two reasons for this.. Either Indians have become politically concious or the political mud slinging is far more interesting than mindless slogging in cricket. For the sake of the countries future we hope its the political conciousness.
